Fall-season Animes

As we reached October the ''fall-season'' (it's the closer term that I can find) animes are debutting. As those who know me I'm an avid anime fan, so a few of them got my eyes on them.

The Returnees

Hajime no Ippo: The Rising

I couldn't start without talking about this one. After the long wait the Season 3 of Hajime no Ippo is back. It's still faithfull to the manga but it seemed to me that the fights now are taking less episodes. The new voice actor of coach Kamogawa is Izuka Shozo replacing the late Utsumi Kenji. He delivers a very similar voice acting to the previous one, a hard thing to do because Utsumi's acting suited like a glove the character.

Pokemon XY

As a new pokemon game hit's the market, as another season of this show starts. There's not much to talk about, it follows the same formula that the predecessors did. I still hope that we will get a long adaption of Pokemon Origins, but on the meanwhile this has to do it.

Kuroko no Basket and Phi Brain are also back. Kuroko I had read the manga and only watched the first episodes of season 1, but it's a nice thing it has returned. Phi Brain comes with it's third season, I haven't seen any seasons yet, but heard nice things about it so it's definetely in my watch list.

The Newcomers:

Samurai Flamenco

Samurai Flamenco got my eye in a weird way. The synopsis I read weren't very conclusive about what it was, and as happened before, it normally is a above average anime that gets missed a lot. So I watched the first episodes as they came out. The anime is about Hazama Mazayoshi, a model without any other skills that dreams to become a super hero. It leads to an encounter with police officer Goto Hidenori, voiced by Sugita Tomokazu (Gintoki's (Gintama), Kyon's (The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia), Switch's (SKET Dance)  voice actor) and then the troubles that Mazayoshi gives him. It has an interesting plot and the main character is hilarious. It has potencial to be one of the best animes that came out this season.

Yowamushi Pedal

Yowamushi Pedal is about cyclism. The story starts with Onoda Sakamichi entering high-school. He's an huge Otaku that want's to join the Anime and Manga club, but just finds that the club has been disbanded. He usually takes the back entrance of the school, an hard climing slope with 20% inclination, on his mommy bike so anyone can't hear he sing anime songs. It eventually leads to the encounter Imaizumi Shunsuke, a cyclist, and his attention turns to Onoda. As the 2nd episode ends, Onoda is racing Imaizumi to get him on the anime club. It has a slow start for a sports shounen, as usually they get into the main topic club in the 2nd episode, but this seems that will take a while. It has already some likeable and curious characters, and normally sport shounens deliver it well.

Ace of Diamond

Ace of Diamond is a sports shounen about Baseball. Sawamura Eijun is a pitcher on a little middle school. He's scouted on his last game, by his last pitch that according to the scouter had his true feelings and skill on it, to join an Elite Baseball High-school. He feels divided between stay with his old teammates or joining the new team, and evolving his skills. Despite that he gets to see the school and eventually joins. It's the typical Hot-blooded main character that has a unique skill that stands out. I'm curious how the plot will unravel.

Log Horizon

Log Horizon is about a online game. As the anime starts, the main characters found themselves inside the game, and they can't get out. I still have doubts about how good it will be, as the 3rd episode there's no main goal, and they don't actually die. If we compare it to Sword Art Online wich death in the game means real life death, this new show falls a bit short.

Strike The Blood

This anime I started watching by boredom. I dind't get a lot of credit to it as I read the synopsis but it proved me a bit wrong. The story takes part in a man-made island south of Tokyo, where live all Demons, Vampires and alike. The main character,Akatsuki Kojou, received the powers of a former powerful vampire known as the Fourth Progenitor and the Order of The Lion king sends a sword shaman, Himeragi Yukina. The plot has advanced much in the 3rd episode but the visuals and fight scenes are well made. Despite I almost skipping it, it maybe in the end will be little above average anime.

Kill la Kill

Kill la Kill probably is the best anime that started in this season. From the creators of the genious Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan, Matoi Ryuuko arrives at the Honnouji Academy carrying his half-scissor blade, searching for the woman who killed her father. Some school students have special uniforms that grants them great fighting skills and power, and Matoi is eventually defeated until she founds in her basement a outfit of her own. The anime is very echi as charaters are, at most, half-nude while fighting. But the fights, they are so overpowered that it gets ridicully funny and epic. The action is very fast paced and the plot seems interesting so keep an eye on this one.

Coppelion

This was the first anime that got my attention this season. The story takes place in an abandoned Tokyo, result of a nuclear accident. A group of genetically engineered girls, resistant to that environment, is sent to explore the city as an SOS is sent from it. The anime has a beautiful artwork, as the backgrounds easily pop out as the great gem in it. The plot started to get mysterious, and like Samurai Flamenco, it will be one of the best animes of this season. Fun fact, it has been delayed since 2010, because of the earthquakes and the Fukushima incident. Figures, right?

These are my picks from this season. There will be more that I probably missed, so feel free to post your must watch animes from this season.
